Piney Hills Gallery Invites New Artists to Submit Work

The North Central Louisiana Arts Council is currently accepting submissions from artists and crafts persons to exhibit in the Piney Hills Gallery. A consignment gallery located at the Dixie Center for the Arts (212 N. Vienna Street, Ruston, LA), which features fine arts and crafts of many genres. There are many great reasons to submit work to the Piney Hills Gallery. Located in the center of Ruston, the Dixie Theater hosts not only numerous theatrical performances year round, but also the offices of both the North Central Louisiana Arts Council and the Ruston Community Theatre, making it an artistic and cultural hub, heavily trafficked by important community figures and all people passionate about the arts. Once juried into the Piney Hills Gallery, artists' works may stay on display as long as they remain members and they may exchange old pieces for new ones as often as every month. The Piney Hills Gallery provides artists with the opportunity to show their work alongside the work of established, widely lauded artists such as Peter Jones and Catherine McVea and important emerging artists like Joshua Chambers and Erin Hollis, winner of best in show in this year's Peach Festival art exhibit.

Artists who are interested should submit two images of their work, artist statement, and arts résumé via email to nclac5@gmail.com or by mail to NCLAC, PO Box 911, Ruston, LA, 71273. (Self-taught, folk artists, and crafts people need not supply an arts résumé.) Please label submissions “PHG Submission.” The deadline is Friday, July 15 at 5:00pm. All mailed worked must be postmarked by Wednesday for consideration. Artists may also drop off work to be juried in person on Friday, July 15th between the hours of 9am-5pm.

Submissions will be juried by an anonymous panel of professional artists. Artists will be notified no later than Monday, July 18 with the panel’s decision.

The North Central Louisiana Arts Council serves the five parishes of Lincoln, Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson, and Union. Their programs are supported by grants and donations from the Beaird Foundation, KLS Physics Group, Art Innovations, Teresa’s Flooring & Decorating, and other private donors.
