Summer Arts Camp Rendezvous

If there’s one thing that Leigh Anne Chambers loves and knows well, it is theatre. Leigh has been the Executive Director for the North Central Louisiana Arts Council since 2009, and the Technical Director for the Dixie Center for the Arts since 2010. Before making all of her current contributions, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from Northeastern State University, and her Master of Arts degree in Arts Administration from Louisiana Tech University. She also gained many years of acting and technical experience working on stage and behind the scenes in numerous university productions.  Since working with the Arts Council, Leigh has helped to expand the presence of the arts in our local area by working as a Drama Warehouse Director, a Summer Arts Camp teacher, coordinating Artoberfest, Holiday Arts Tour, and working with the Ruston Farmer’s Market. She is also the creative mind behind many artist exhibitions and local art and theatre-related events. Leigh strives to teach kids that when studying and creating art, “we do not make mistakes, we make discoveries.” When asked what her favorite part about working in the Summer Arts Camp and with NCLAC was, she shared, “Helping to create the community I want to live in.” We are thrilled to have such an experienced and passionate person returning to teach at the Summer Arts Camp for her fourth year.

Early registration for this year’s camps is now available. Interested participants can register by calling 318-255-1450 or picking up a form from the Dixie Center for the Arts (212 N. Vienna, Ruston, LA).

A portion of the Summer Arts Camp is sponsored by a grant from Entergy as well as donations from NCLAC’s Pick Your Picasso campaign. PYP is a campaign that provides scholarships to twenty-five students to attend the arts camp in their parish for free.
