Located at 202 North Vienna, between Kelly Moore Bag and Social Bites, Serendipity is a "home decor and more" store. The large storefront carries a variety of items, and is a unique place to hunt for a treasure. Serendipity has antique furniture, pillows, kitchenware, children's books and gifts, holiday decor, jewelry, LA Tech-themed apparel, and more.
This will be Leigh Buffington's first year on NCLAC's Holiday Arts Tour. Leigh is coming to us from Monroe, but fits right in here in Ruston as her BFA is from Louisiana Tech's noted Art Department. Leigh is the creator of a variety of items, from paintings, drawings and prints, to sculptural boxes and jewelry. Leigh says that even since childhood, she has been keenly aware of "the impermanent quality of life." This awareness, or sensitivity, translates into her artwork, which is "based in the duality of flesh and spirit." On a personal level, Leigh is a gentle person with a ready, beautiful smile; I'm certain you'll enjoy meeting her on the Tour, and talking with her about her art process.
A special treat for Tour-goers on Friday will be the barbershop a cappella harmony of the Grace Notes Quartet. This quartet from the Piney Hills Harmony Chorus is composed of Judy Sisson, Sheila Nugent, Carol Ogle and Donna Fike. The quartet will perform at Serendipity from 5-8pm on Friday. They will sing short sets of music so that Tour-goers can meet and mingle with the performers. This is the group's first year on the Tour, and I can't wait to hear them!
NCLAC's 16th annual Holiday Arts Tour will be held November 21-24, 2013. Be sure to visit our site at nclarts.org to view the complete schedule.
