Princess Grace Foundation-USA Announces 2011 Princess Grace Awards Applications in Theater, Playwriting, Dance, Choreography, and Film

  The Princess Grace Foundation-USA has announced the availability of applications for the 2011 Princess Grace Awards in Theater, Playwriting, Dance Performance, Choreography, and Film. Founded in 1982, in memory of Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco, the foundation identifies and assists emerging artists in theater, dance, and film and has awarded more than $8 million in total support to nearly five hundred individuals nationwide.

Awards are offered in the form of scholarships, apprenticeships, and fellowships. Grants are awarded based on the quality of the emerging artist’s past work, his/her potential for future excellence, and the impact the collaboration between the nominating organization and the artist will have on the individual’s artistic growth.

Final deadline is June 1, 2011.

"Mix It Up, Mixed Media" call to artists

On the Shoulder of Giants

The Shreveport Regional ARts Council and artspace, togeth with the Community Foundation, are hosting a one-month minute gallery exhibition @ artspace in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Community Foundation and its commitment to philanthropy in Shreveport-Bossier and Northwest Louisiana. 

Eligibilty: All Professional Visual, Literary, and Multi-media Artists who live or own a studio in one of the 10 parishes of Northwest Louisiana (Region 7) are eligible to apply.

Artists may submit up to 3 arworks for this Juried Exhibition that:

  • reflect, respond to, salute or represent Sir Isaac Newton's infamous quote: "If I have seen further, it was only by standing on the shoulder of giants";
  • are the visual, literay, or multi-media incarnation of this theme;
  • and are either New and Existing artworks so long as the work has not been exhibited in Shreveport-Bossier in the past year.

One BEST OF SHOW Prize of $1,500 will be awarded to the over-all best submission.  Aditionally, the jurors reserve the right to award up to $1,000 in JUROR'S CHOICE prizes!  Awards will be announced and presented at the Opening Reception of the Exhibition.

Jurors for this exhibition are Kelly McDade (local artist & art instructor BPCC), Mike McSwain (local artist & architect), and Dorsey Summerfield (local artist, musician & instructor at SUSLA).
