Southern Rep Hosts City-Wide Auditions: An Open Call for both AEA and non-union actors New Orleans—Southern Rep will host an OPEN CALL for actors Saturday, June 4, 2011 between 10:00 pm—3:00 pm. Attending will be local theatre companies and independent producers (see full list below). Auditionees should bring 20 copies of their headshot and résumé, prepare two contrasting monologues of one-minute each, and if musically inclined sing 16 bars a cappella.

The Moving Image Arts program at the University of Louisiana and LEDA are hosting a half-day casting and audition workshop with Emmy-Award winning casting director, Junie Lowry Johnson. Ms. Johnson’s casting credits include: True Blood, The Killing, Desperate Housewives and Big Love, among many other television series and films. The first hour will feature discussion about the role of a casting director and Q&A. The second half of the seminar will be a hands-on audition workshop with Ms. Johnson offering one-on-one critiques. Scripts will be provided at the workshop.
This seminar is open to those interested in learning more about the role of a casting director and the audition process and actors of all experience levels.

San Diego Watercolor Society International Show
The SDWS seeks entries for its annual show Sep. 30 - Nov. 1, 2011 in San Diego, California. $15,000 in cash and merchandise awards, $1000 1st place Award. Juror: Carrie Burns Brown. Entries must be original work in water-soluble media on paper or YUPO painted within the last two years. All work must be at least 80% water-based media. Collage is acceptable only if treated with watermedia. No digital art, work produced under instruction, copies of another's work or copyrighted references. Entries must not have won awards in other national or international shows. No painting exhibited in a previous SDWS International Exhibition is eligible. Only one painting per artist will be accepted. The juror's decision is final. Paintings must be for sale. One entry: Members-$30, Non-Members-$40.
