Artwork in the area!

wtrisler6 Hello, Hello. Sophia back with Thursday's blog. I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the opportunities available to see artwork right here in Ruston!wtrisler8

Whitney Trisler, an artist based out of Monroe, LA, currently has a solo exhibition at Crescent City Coffeehouse. Life Through Facets presents several of Whitney's extraordinary paintings of life through the distortions of memory and time. She approaches her ideas on the preciousness of life and the distortion of such treasured memories by incorporating beautiful, yet slightly chaotic, diamond facets.

wtrisler1The opening for Life Through Facets was held at the beginning of December, 2012, but the exhibition will be on display in Crescent City through the month of February. This is a golden opportunity to see some amazing talent right here in Ruston! Be sure to go by the coffee shop to get your fill of Trisler paintings, as well some hot drinks and sweet treats!

Next up in Ruston is the Louisiana Purchase: 2nd National Biennial Juried Exhibition in the main galleries at the School of Art onTech's campus. One of my works has been accepted to this show and I feel so grateful and excited! Aside from Ruston artists, this juried show will bring in work from artists around the country, making it a must see!LAPurchase_showgraphic

As an emerging artist, I see any juried exhibition as a golden opportunity for a few reasons. First, of course would be submitting my artwork with hopes for acceptance. Second, acceptance or not, viewing a juried show for the experience. Each and every juror will look for certain characteristics in artwork, be picky about specific areas of the artistic process, and will put together a different variety of work for a group showing. Don't miss out on all of these opportunities to see artwork in Ruston!

UPCOMING! Later this month, NCLAC will have a brand new group of artwork in the Dixie Center for the Arts lobby.  Be sure to subscribe to our NCLAC facebook page to get all the latest updates on the art scene in and around Ruston!
