It’s that time of year again! For more than fifteen years, kids have been taking part in NCLAC’s Summer Arts Camps, and this year’s season is just around the corner. As always, the popular visual arts and drama classes are being offered, where students will have the opportunity for hands-on experience with the art-making process. Jessica Slaughter, NCLAC’s Educational Coordinator, describes the summer camps as energetic and lively. She explains, “Our camps offer an assortment of arts-related activities. Students will experiment with a variety of art media and concepts, as well as be exposed to art history.” Each of the visual arts classes are taught by artists and art educators, many of whom have worked in local high schools and on the collegiate level. On stage, kids will learn about different styles of theater, play games, sing songs, and practice entertaining acting techniques.
Camps are available for students entering grades 2 through 7. The fee for a one-week camp, from 9am-12pm, is $60. Students in Ruston can register for all three camps, and receive $5 dollars off of the price of each camp, for a total discount of $15 dollars.
