The NCLAC office is making final preparations for this year’s Peach Art Exhibit that will hang on the walls of Ruston’s City Hall! This will be our 32st annual fine art show held during the Louisiana Peach Festival. Children, teens and adults of all experience levels are invited to exhibit and to compete for cash prizes in this regional art show. The show is titled “Peach Art Exhibit” because it coincides with the Peach Festival – not because the art must be peach-themed. Art of any variety is welcomed, as long as it’s suitable for a general viewing audience.
To enter the Peach Art Exhibit, artists must bring the artwork to the lobby of the Ruston Civic Center on Thursday, June 13th between 9am and 4:30pm for it to be registered. All art must be wired to hang on the wall, unless it is intended for three-dimensional table display. Each piece must have an entry form and the appropriate fees. Entry fees for adults are $20 per category; adults may enter 2 works per category. The categories are: Drawing, Painting, Photography, 3D Arts, and Mixed Media. Entry fees for youth and teens are $10 per person; each person may enter two artworks. Youth and teen categories are as follows: 6 and Under, 7 to 9, 10 to 12, 13 to 15, and 16 to 18. NCLAC members receive $5 off their entries, so be sure to bring your membership card! All proceeds from the Peach Art Exhibit fund NCLAC’s ongoing mission to nurture the arts in our area.
We will have entry forms available on registration day, but interested artists can find an entry form on NCLAC’s website at nclac.org/peach-art. A qualified judge from a neighboring parish will choose winners in each category and awards will be presented by the Mayor at the Opening Reception on Tuesday, June 18th.
We are pleased that Morgan Garrison’s Uptown Downtown will be sponsoring our reception this year by providing refreshments. Big thanks! The artwork will be lovely and the snacks will be delicious. The public is invited to see all of the amazing art displayed at City Hall at the Opening Reception, June 18th from 5:30-6:30pm. The exhibition will remain on display from the reception through July 11th.
