Coming to Louisiana Tech University, the ballet that has been credited with inspiring young dancers from around the world with their technique, grace, and all-around enchantment: the Russian National Ballet! On April 26th, the Russian National Ballet will be dancing their way to Howard Stage to give what is sure to be a breathtaking performance. Louisiana Tech Concert Association is honored to be hosting the Russian National Ballet for the second time in Howard Auditorium, this time they will be performing the famous and timeless story of Cinderella.

When this inspiring ballet company first debuted on Howard stage, over one thousand people saw their performance of Swan Lake and there was still a line of hopefuls lined up at the door to get tickets! Their stellar performance was seen by a sold out house and ended with a spontaneous standing ovation. As a dancer myself, I sat in the audience in awe of the numerous dancers on stage, as they moved and leaped as one. Each step, leap, and spin was extraordinary and different than any other dance company that I have ever experienced. Swan Lake had me at the edge of my seat and there was nothing that could have taken my eyes off of the Russian National Ballet’s enchanting work.

Cinderella will no doubt continue their reputation with its euphoric music, flawless footwork, and let’s not forget to mention the hilarious stepsisters! Cinderella wants nothing more than to be freed of her torment caused by her larger than life stepmother. She is not only freed, but her expectations are exceeded by the magical Fairy Godmother with the power of two glass slippers. I have no doubt that this ballet will not only capture the eyes of everyone in the audience, but it will shine a new light on this classical fairy tale that everyone adores and loves. The New York Times said, “The ballet was deliverance,” and people all over the country describe the performance as passionate, perfectionistic, and awe-inspiring.
