Local musicians are vying for the chance to create the new downtown Monroe jingle and win a free EP recording session.

The Downtown Monroe Alliance is hosting the contest. Local artists are invited to submit a 30-60 second jingle to describe downtown Monroe. The jingle should portray downtown Monroe as the arts and entertainment center of North Louisiana. Monroe has many talented artists, and DMA would like to showcase their gifts in the promotion of the downtown Monroe. The winning jingle will be used in everything from radio to television ads.

“We are so excited about having a jingle for downtown. We want to have local musicians to create the song since they are a huge part of the area’s status as an entertainment destination. We believe they can truly grasp the essence of downtown,” stated Downtown Economic Development District Director Myra Gatling-Akers.

The contest will run from Tuesday, August 1st until Friday, September 22nd. The winner will be chosen by the Downtown Monroe Alliance and announced on Friday, September 29th.

The winner will receive a professional recording session from Nahar Studios to record not only the jingle, but also a three song EP with mixing and mastering included, a $600 value. The winner will have the opportunity to debut their jingle at the October 5th Downtown River Jam in Bry Park.

To enter the contest, artists or bands must e-mail video or audio of the complete original jingle along with contact info to Downtown.Marketing@ci.Monroe.La.US.

The Downtown Monroe Alliance is a local 501(c)3. The Downtown Monroe Alliance’ mission is to make Downtown Monroe the vibrant heart of the city.
