The Dixie Center for the Arts is proud to present clarinetist, Lawrence Gibbs and pianist, Dan Immel in “A Lagniappe Recital” on Monday evening November 13th at 7:30pm.  The concert is free with donations accepted to help cover costs for the Dixie Center. The concert will include the music of J.S. Bach, Johannes Brahms, Igor Stravinsky, Francis Poulenc and John Philip Sousa. Mr. Gibbs states “After performing for 50 years I feel it’s time to wind down the ‘serious’ recitals and focus more on chamber music and the smaller jazz groups. I do feel like I have one more in me. These works are my favorite concert selections for clarinet and piano. To perform these works with the talents of Dr. Daniel Immel, Professor of Piano at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, is a true blessing.”

Lawrence Gibbs recently retired as Associate Professor of Music (Single Reeds), Director of Jazz Activities, and Associate Director of Bands at Louisiana Tech University. He currently directs the Russ-Town Band, and has previous professional experience in a variety of venues, such as the International Clarinet Fest in New Orleans, the Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium in Norman, Oklahoma, and performances with Bob Hope, Liberace, Connie Francis and others.

The Dixie Center is a restored theatre in historic downtown Ruston, Louisiana, that serves as a rental venue and home to the arts in Lincoln Parish, housing both the North Central Louisiana Arts Council and Ruston Community Theatre.
