Exhibition of works by photographer Melissa Leporati
The North Central Louisiana Arts Council (NCLAC) is pleased to announce an exhibit of photographs by Photographer Melissa Leporati.
Melissa Leporati is a local photographer living in West Monroe, Louisiana. She has worked as a freelance photojournalist for a number of years. She has won numerous competitions with her work and over 278 of her photographs have been published in the Farmerville Gazette. Her work has also been published in The Good Life magazine and featured in Union Parish Newcomer’s & Visitor’s Guide.
The artist enjoys her work so much that she considers it a pleasurable hobby rather than work experience.
Ms. Leporati states that her days are spent in an office swarming with activity, appointments, telephones, and deadlines. Her daydreams are spent in mountains and forests, breathing in the sweet scent of honeysuckle while sunshine warms her back, or on a desolate shore listening to waves crash into rocks, or by a crackling campfire underneath a starry sky. When she cannot physically be there, an image will take her there, if not but for a moment.
The artist feels that this is what photography does for people: it takes them to another time, another place. It is an escape.
